The French outlet claim that despite the close of the deal, the two clubs have not actually opened formal talks over the 24-year-old – who has been identified as Erik ten Hag ) the team’s transfer target.

United are believed to have sent scouts to watch Di Sassi in Monaco last season and were impressed with his performances in Ligue 1 and Europe overall.

The central defender played 49 times for Monaco last season, scoring 6 goals and assisting 4 times. The Red and Whites ranked sixth in Ligue 1 with 65 points, only 3 points behind fourth place Stade. Resnais.

United have been linked with a move for the Frenchman in the January transfer window, but no concrete bid has been made by the club. However, they seem keen to get their man this summer.

Disassi’s contract with Monaco expires in 2025 and there are currently no talks between club and player for a new deal, so the Ligue 1 giants may be forced to sell to avoid losing months of his time at low prices in ’12 .

United could be without club captain Harry Maguire in the summer after falling out with the Ten Witches due to a lack of playing time last season. The England centre-back has Linked to move to Tottenham after ten witches Comments on Maguire’s future The club claim the 30-year-old must decide whether to stay or leave Old Trafford.

Should Maguire end up leaving United, the Red Devils will need a replacement and Di Sassi has emerged as a prime target.according to L’Equipe, Monaco are willing to sell Di Sassi for around £34m (€40m), a price Manchester United are said to be willing to meet.

United will be in the Champions League next season, so they will need a bigger team to shuttle between domestic football and Europe if they are to win trophies. If Di Sassi moves to Old Trafford, he will provide first-class support for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Di Sassi made two appearances for France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as they failed to defend their title in a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat after a 3-3 draw with Argentina.

The highly-rated guard is versatile and can play multiple positions on the backline, as was evident last season. If Manchester United can get his signature, he will be an excellent signing.
